D.I.Y. Valentine’s Day Card

S

o, I guess I’m getting into Valentine’s Day mood. I’m not really into all the red heart frenzy, I’m actually more in the chocolate part of this holiday…but last night I was playing with some paper and pens and came up with this! Ta-dam! A Coco Chanel inspired black and white D.I.Y. Valentine’s Day card!

So here are some basic instructions, even though it’s pretty obvious:

1.

Take some heavy stock white paper (I used a sheet of watercolour paper which has a really nice texture) and cut a piece with 1:3 proportions (10 x 30 cm. for example), so the card ends up long and narrow when folded. Then cut a piece of glassine or rice paper with the same size. Fold the 2 pieces in half, smooth the edges out and line the glassine paper inside the white paper. (The glassine/rice paper is where you write on.)

2.

Draw the outlines of a heart on the front with a pencil. To make the card more interesting I “misplaced” the heart, instead of putting in the center. Then take a black pen and go crazy – this part is really therapeutical I assure you…

3.
Using a large needle pierce 2 holes through the folded edge and pass a ribbon, twine or hemp rope through the holes. Then tie a thight ribbon, so the 2 sheets of paper hold well together.
I hope this is clear enough. I’m not very good with instructions!
